About Coach Huggins
My name is Mark Huggins and I have been teaching social studies at Bowdon High School since 2003. I was born in Gainesville, Florida (Go Gators!) and moved from High Springs, Florida to Bowdon in 1994. I consider it a great honor to teach at my high school alma mater as a member of the BHS class of 1998.
I signed a scholarship out of high school to play baseball and further my education at Kennesaw State University. I played my final two collegiate seasons at the University of West Georgia where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education in 2003. I also hold a Master of Arts in Teaching from Grand Canyon University.
I currently teach Economics, American Government, and AP United States History while serving as the Social Studies Department Chair.
Additionally, I serve as the Athletic Director for the High School and am an Assistant Coach on the Softball and Baseball teams.
I have been blessed with two children (Caroline and Will), two dogs, and one amazing wife, Elissa, who also works at Bowdon High School as the In-School Coordinator for Special Education. My passions include Bowdon Baptist Church, playing guitar, and coffee.
Go Big Red!
